Diapers-whether designed for infants or adults-require robust absorbency and high functionality; consequently, the selection of appropriate materials during the manufacturing process is of paramount importance. Many diaper manufacturers employ structural adhesives as bonding agents to laminate the absorbent core, leak-proof barrier, and top sheet together, thereby creating a complete, cohesive diaper unit.
However, the use of structural adhesives in diaper manufacturing necessitates careful consideration. Firstly, structural adhesives typically exhibit low porosity, which may compromise the overall breathability of the diaper-an effect that becomes particularly pronounced in humid conditions. Secondly, structural adhesives tend to possess a relatively high potential for skin irritation; if an adhesive is used that fails to remain consistently dry, it may lead to skin discomfort or even trigger allergic reactions.
