The environmental trend in hot melt adhesives for sanitary napkins is rapidly upgrading towards bio-based, biodegradable, and low-VOC emissions. Driven by both policy and increased consumer health awareness, green environmental protection has become a core direction for industry development.

Bio-based and Biodegradable Materials Become a Key Focus of Research and Development To address the difficulty of degrading traditional petrochemical-based hot melt adhesives, the industry is actively developing bio-based hot melt adhesives made from renewable resources. For example, Henkel has launched the TECHNOMELT RE series of compostable and biodegradable hot melt adhesives, specifically designed for disposable hygiene products, which can achieve complete biodegradation under industrial composting conditions. Deyuan Group has also launched internationally certified bio-based and biodegradable products to meet the demand for sustainable materials in the European, American, and Chinese markets.

These materials not only reduce dependence on fossil resources but also significantly reduce the carbon footprint throughout the product's life cycle, aligning with the "dual carbon" goal.

Stricter Environmental Standards Drive Industry Upgrading

The current industry standard, HG/T 3948-2025 (effective March 2026), significantly raises environmental requirements compared to the previous version:

VOC emissions and heavy metal content are subject to stricter chemical indicators;
It adopts hygiene standards such as GB 15979-2002 to strengthen the control of microbial safety, including initial contamination bacteria and pathogenic pyogenic bacteria;
It encourages the use of fluorescent-free, solvent-free, and hypoallergenic formulas to protect women's intimate health.
